A Fantastic Family Cycling Experience in Franschhoek!
Our family of four (with two kids, 8 and 10) had the most wonderful half day exploring Franschhoek by bike with Louer un Vélo. It was the perfect blend of adventure, nature, and relaxation — cycling through vineyards, soaking up the views, and enjoying local charm at every turn.
Everything was so well organized from start to finish. The bikes were comfortable and well maintained, and our guide Inga was incredible — friendly, knowledgeable, and so patient with the kids. He made the ride engaging for everyone, sharing great stories and leading us along the most scenic and safe routes.
We visited two lovely, family-friendly wineries. It was such a fun and effortless way to experience the beauty of Franschhoek together.
Highly recommend Louer un Vélo to anyone looking for a joyful, active, and truly memorable way to explore this stunning valley.

Our guide, Inga, was very sweet and took really good care of us. He always stopped and told us what we could expect of road conditions ahead of us and had several interesting things to tell us. The bikes worked fine also.

Fantastic!!!! My wife and I did a guided mountain bike tour and loved it! We rode with a really great guide (Inga). He provided some history about the area, and lots of important riding info as we went along (rocky terrain, steep hills, etc). He was great, helpful, patient and a fun guy to be around. Gemma, at the shop, was also really great. She was very helpful with getting the bikes set up, and defining a route that would fit our needs. The bikes were in great condition, and perfect for the day. I would highly recommend this bike shop and the guided tour. Will worth the time and money.

We rented two e-bikes and they were perfect. The manager was extremely kind and recommended a beautiful route to take, providing us with all the necessary information. The rental also included a nice chocolate tasting. And then there’s Tiny, a super sweet dog who makes the rental experience even better!

We had an excellent last minute cycle hote experience with the team here. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything for our day and helped my GF, who is not a confident rider feel at ease and leave excited to explore. Will very much rent from them again when we are back!

I cannot recommend Franschhoek Rent a Bicycle / Louer un Vèlo enough.
Gemma went out of her way to assist me with all the information I requested and making the booking. Also, a shout out to the team that helped us get ready, and showed us how to use the bikes. The staff are all very friendly and helpful.
We were nervous about riding bikes, seeing as it is something we last did as children, but it was so much fun. We rented the e-bikes, which I would recommend! The e-bikes allowed us to explore a wide area and it was just so easy to use.
Definitely something to try in the Franschhoek area!!

Fantastic experience with rent a bicycle Franschhoek. Bikes were great and suited our family of 4 well. Beautiful scenery around the winelands. Staff friendly and helpful with route advice. Gemma was really easy to deal with and we loved meeting Tiny the dog !! Would highly recommend.

We had such a good day out on the e-bikes. Gemma was super helpful and gave us a really good route to take and offered great advice. We got a puncture and Steven came straight out with a new bike for us. Nothing was too much trouble and the bikes were in great condition. We would highly recommend. We wiah you both good luck with the wedding plans.

Great choice for renting bikes in Franschhoek. Communication with Gemma was very easy and quick, and the electric bikes were great! I would definitely recommend it!

Such a great experience. Gemma and team were very helpful before and during our bike hire including hints and tips of local areas. We opted for e-bikes meaning we could see more of the area including countryside and wine estates. Bikes very easy to use, comfortable.and stylish. We felt extremely safe biking in the area. Bikes we also delivered to our hotel making the process very easy. Would definitely recommend.

We had a fantastic guided e-bike tour of some of central Franschhoek as well as cycling to viewing spots of the Berg River Dam & taken to La Bri & La Motte for tours of their premises. We also decided to do some tastings and went home with a few bottles of wine :) There were 3 of us and it was a private tour. The bikes were excellent, the company went out of their way to collect us from our accommodation at Neighbourgood Franschhoek and take us by tuk tuk to pick up the bikes from their local office. Mandla was the one of the best tour guides I have come across in SA - knowledgeable, friendly, detail-oriented and very easy to talk to. He was honestly fantastic - thank you so much, Mandla, for the very memorable day!

Great service, advice & very helpful drop off & collection of our cruiser bikes. Easy & efficient!! Just do it! A great way to explore the Village & surrounding farms. Just do it - there are not many opportunities like this in SA!

We are a family of 4 traveling from Australia. From the moment we showed up the owners couldn’t do enough to make our experience perfect. Thys spent the time making sure our bikes suited us, gave us great tips on where to go and even escorted us to our first stop (grande Provence wine estate). After a long lunch we rode to the Berg River dam, winding through quiet roads, lapping up the scenery. What a great way to experience this incredible region.
